Tops to Tails — Habit-building home textiles

Your kid's got this.
The towel just makes it obvious.

Tops to Tails towels have a hat at the top and a tail at the bottom — so kids can figure out which end is which all by themselves. No reminders needed. (Mostly.)

The idea in 6 words

🎩 Top hat = face side
🐇 Bunny tail = body side

How it works

Simple enough for a three-year-old.
(Because it has to be.)

🎩 Hat at the top, tail at the bottom

Every Tops to Tails towel has a little hat sewn into the top edge and a small tail at the bottom. No reading required — just look for the hat, and you're set.

🛁 Kids spot it. Kids use it. Kids feel proud.

Every bath, every morning, the same little cue is waiting for them. Kids love having something that's theirs to figure out — and this one they can do completely on their own.

🎉 You get to stop reminding them

The routine becomes theirs. One less thing on your mental list. Honestly, it's a pretty good trade.

The towel

A well-made towel that just happens to teach.

The first Tops to Tails towel is a full-size bath towel — soft, absorbent, and built to survive the wash cycle that every parent knows too well. It is made from 100% ring-spun cotton, woven to a weight that holds up without getting stiff over time.

The visual cues are woven into the design — a small top-hat motif at the top hem, a bunny-tail loop at the bottom. They sit at each end of the towel permanently: no iron-on labels, no patches, nothing that peels. Just the object, doing its job.

The palette is simple on purpose. No cartoon faces, no bright primaries. We wanted something a parent would put in their bathroom and not regret a year later.

Why it works

Kids are actually really good
at following a clear signal.

The problem isn't that kids won't listen — it's that "use the top for your face" is genuinely hard to remember mid-bath. Give them something visual to grab onto, and they've got it.

"The object is already part of the routine. The reminder appears exactly when needed."

— The idea behind Tops to Tails

It's already in their hands

No chart on the wall, no app to open, no reminder from you. The cue is right there on the towel they're already holding — which is the most convenient place for it to be.

Same thing, every single time

The hat is always the hat. The tail is always the tail. Every bath, every morning, same deal. That kind of repetition is exactly how routines stick — and kids are great at it.

They did it themselves

That little moment of "I figured it out" matters more than it sounds. Kids who feel capable keep doing the thing — no nudging required. That's the whole point.

Parents say

From the people who tried it first.

We haven't said 'that's the face side' once this week. She just knows. That's a first.

Rachel T.

Mom of a 4-year-old, Portland

My son is 3 and very into doing everything himself. This towel fits right into that — it gives him the answer before he has to ask.

Marcus & Yuki A.

Parents of two, Austin

"I was skeptical that a symbol on a towel would matter. Two weeks in, bedtime is three minutes shorter."

Jess M. — mom of a 6-year-old

"The design is subtle enough that it doesn't look like a kids' bathroom product — it just looks like a nice towel. That matters to me."

Diane W. — parent of two, Chicago

"My 5-year-old now teaches her younger brother which end is which. I genuinely did not expect that."
